Continents of Valdessia

Ryokuzan, The North Lands

“The Land of Hidden Steel and Soaring Flame”

Ryokuzan is the northern most continent of Valdessia—less sprawling than Virelia but no less formidable. It is a land forged by conflict, spiritual depth, and elemental balance. Towering mountain spires, mist-drenched valleys, and volcanic ridgelines dominate its geography. Ryokuzan is steeped in warrior tradition, mystical arts, and ancient rivalries that continue to shape its fractured nations.

Thalorak

Thalorak is the southernmost continent of the world, defined by its cool temperate to subarctic climate. The north is rich with dense forests and thriving human, Oni, and Lyrian tribes—many of whom trade with Nexus, the Kelian Guard, and Rainecourt. The central highlands are home to a clan of Mountain Kray and mixed settlements that revolve around steamwork, farming, and stonecraft. In the southern tundra, the towering Drakenspire Mountains shelter reclusive Mountain Kray, hardened Oni war-clans, and rare giants. Deep spiritual traditions, ancient relics, and growing political unrest define this wild, untamed land of frost, stone, and legend.

Tanzahar

“The Forsaken Land. Where death walks, and the sky forgets the sun.”

Tanzahar is a dark, dangerous continent steeped in decay, undeath, and ancient ruin. Unlike Virelia’s political complexity or Ryokuzan’s spiritual warfare, Tanzahar is a place where survival itself is a constant trial. Long ago, a massive meteor crashed into its northern mountain range—the Veilrend Peaks—unleashing corruption from the underworld and poisoning the land with infernal energy. Much of Tanzahar is shrouded in mist, shadow, or ash.

Nexus

“The City of Chains and Crowns — where gold rules, law watches, and all are tested.”

Nexus is a sprawling, independent city-state built into and around a mountain in the Sea of Twin Moons between the continent of Virelia and the continent Tanzahar. It is the world’s most notorious hub of commerce, magic, and conflict-resolution, governed not by kings but by guilds and Justiciars. Here, mercenaries, merchants, mages, criminals, and champions from every continent gather—either to make their fortune or die trying. Nexus is the home of the infamous Corbinite Trials, where warriors, criminals, and adventurers alike compete for glory and freedom.

At its heart is Mount Corbine, a colossal peak housing corbinite mines, and a brutal prison complex.

Virelia

“The Cradle of Nations, the Land of Thousand Crowns.”

Virelia is the largest and most politically diverse continent in the known world, a place where magic, steam technology, and ancient traditions collide. Its terrain ranges from forested heartlands and snow-capped mountains to sun-scorched deserts and dense tropical jungles. Unlike Ryokuzan, which is defined by spiritual balance and martial honor, Virelia is a continent of constant struggle, shifting alliances, and ambition-fueled expansion.
